possibly unpopular opinion

I really don't like the fact that Crowley is emotionally abusive to his plants. I know that it's played for laughs and it's not really that deep but I don't see how he can be so upset by suffering at other times e.g. the flood and then be so horrible to his plants.

That's a fair enough response. I always loved that moment in the book -- that Crowley can understand humans so well in some ways, and totally misunderstand human trends in other ways -- but onscreen, you really feel how emotionally unhealthy it is.

Mind you, Crowley isn't a good being, not really. He makes the best of being a demon and doesn't outright eat people, but he takes a definite satisfaction in making everyone's lives that little bit worse.
